Commonwealth Bank – Start Smart Program

On the 14th of November our school is having a special visit from the Commonwealth Bank for our Year 1 to Year 6 students. They will be engaged in a fun and exciting program tailored to their year level and the most exciting thing is that it is free. Outlined below is what each year level will be exposed to. These sessions will operate throughout the day commencing with year one at 8:30a.m.

Year 1
In this workshop guided by Captain Cash or Money Girl,
students learn about money as a concept, what it’s worth,
how to keep it safe and how to ‘speed to your needs and
wait for your wants’.
Year 2
Our money superhero returns and requests help from
students in preparing for a return to ‘space school’.
Students are challenged to aid our money superhero with
his/her spending.
Year 3
Students get introduced to Coach Cash – the students’
very own personal money trainer – inspiring students to
become ‘cashletes’. They will learn about key cards, credit
cards and EFTPOS.
Year 4
Coach Cash dives right into how money works and the
influences of needs, wants, advertising and peer pressure
on spending. Students gain understanding of saving for a
goal even when they are spending.
Year 5
This highly applicable workshop gives students a
practical framework for realistic, financial goal setting, by
encouraging them to ‘See It, Earn It, Save It’.
Year 6
Students revisit the concept of ‘See It, Earn It, Save It’ with
a focus on budgeting skills. They will learn how to prepare a
budget for a one-off charitable fundraising event. Following
this, students will explore how to implement an ongoing
budget for the achievement of personal financial goals.
