Homework
Homework provides students with opportunities to consolidate their classroom learning, pattern behaviour for lifelong learning beyond the classroom and involve family members in their learning. Homework:
* is effective in supporting learning
*allows sufficient time for family, recreation, and community and cultural activities
* does not disadvantage students due to a lack of access to resources Refer to the TNSS Homework Policy for more information.
Homework Centre
Homework Centres will provide a supervised and suitable learning environment in which students can complete their homework before they go home. The sessions will be supervised by teacher aides.
At Toowoomba North, we provide a Homework Centre supervised by teacher aides after school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Students will be supervised and assisted to complete homework tasks, including reading to an adult. Personalised tuition or academic counselling will not be provided. When planning our Homework Centre sessions we ensure we consider the age, learning and development needs of the children attending. A healthy snack will also be provided.
Participation is voluntary and students from Prep to Year 6 can attend.
Schools will be responsible for managing registrations for their Homework Centre. If you would like your child/ren to attend the Homework Centre, please ask our friendly office staff for a registration form, or alternatively, please email the principal giving your permission on principal@toowoombanorthss.eq.edu.au
